Intuit makes a decent offer, but needs more SALT.

As much as the idea of giving Intuit more money sucks, I had to do my due diligence and reach out to them for a quote. I asked them about ProConnect, as that's generally their most "modern" platform.

ProConnect charges exclusively via PRP fees with minimum purchase requirements. On April 22, 2026, I was offered a 35% permanent discount on PRP fees. The required purchase was 100 individual returns.

PRP fees were $35.75/individual and $40.25/entity. That put my projected price at $7,537. That's well behind my offensive UT renewal. The offer was good for a month.

Alas, ProConnect has failed to modernize in a few key ways critical to my client base.

They don't support electronic filing for the Oregon Corporate Activity Tax (OR-CAT) or the Trimet Self-Employment Tax (OR-TM). But their sales rep didn't want to believe it:

I completely understand wanting to maintain (and elevate) your customer’s experience. Not to denigrate your research but do you mind if I do some digging into those forms’ availability? What I see says they’re both available in multiple forms... Did you try testing them in the software and they didn’t populate? I want to make sure I am giving Support as much info as possible for my request.

I jumped through these hoops with Intuit sales back in 2022. Yes, they have the form in their platform, but they don't support e-filing. I have to force sales to make that distinction.

I'm not about to start paper-filing returns that have been e-filing for years. I prepare roughly 14-16 OR-CAT returns each year, and I have up to about 75 clients who potentially file OR-TM.

They assured me they'll pass this along to their developers. Seeing as it hasn't changed in four years...

They also have some wonky functionality around how attachments are included with local filings that can e-file, requiring extra steps in the preparation process.

To their credit, the Intuit sales wasn't a bad experience in comparison to dealing with UT and CCH. The pushback at the end was annoying, but singular. The initial call was fine, and they asked me when they should follow up. Emails were courteous and in line with my timetable.

CCH on the other hand. That one has been an experience...
